Sedge MARSH - 2025
Sedge Marsh captures the quiet, shifting rhythms of a marshland environment. The composition reflects the delicate balance of a wetland—where shallow water pools across mudflats, and fall grasses anchor themselves in saturated soil.
Through rich ochres, oxidized rust tones, and cool, pale washes, the piece echoes the natural accumulation of silt, brackish water, and weather. Rather than a static vista, the surface feels alive with movement, capturing the way light, water, and vegetation bleed into one another along the water’s edge.
__________
I painted Sedge Marsh from a photo I took on a camping trip October 2025. Starting point was dripping paint as lots of water felt right.
